Nature journaling workshop
***** CANCELLED *****
Regrettably, due to a low number of registration we will be cancelling this event. We strive to create events that cater to the wants and needs of our community in Prince Edward County... but it looks like we missed the mark on this one. If you have any feedback, please email us at countyflora@gmail.com as we reconsider and rework this activity.
***** CANCELLED *****
Keeping a nature journal is an enduring way to creatively engage with the environment and collect a record of your own observations. Many notable thinkers - from Charles Darwin to Henry David Thoreau - developed a personal catalogue of their discoveries alongside their musings. Keeping a nature journal will enhance your observational skills, enable you to discover the diversity in the world around you, and explore your excitement, passion and interest in nature. Nature journaling is a personal experience - you may chose to focus on flora or fauna, you may choose to include sketches, maps or notes.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to nature journaling guidelines, get help goal setting, start your practice on a hike, and end with a group discussion. Depending on the reception to this event, we hope to host a series of nature journaling events throughout the summer.
Saturday June 1, 8-11 am - https://www.facebook.com/events/300651540601551/
Suggested donation $40. Coffee and homemade snacks provided.
Members can attend for $25. Join the County Flora Club now.
Materials are not included. We don't want to impose some format or medium, so please bring a fresh journal and writing/drawing materials of your choosing.

*** On hold until weather improves. ***
The trail used for this hike is relatively flat to enable individuals with accessibility concerns participate in our hikes. Unfortunately it is flat and also low, with all the rain that means it is a muddy mess and neither suitable nor safe at this time.
*** On hold until weather improves. ***
Mid-week hike suitable for individuals with reduced mobility. This will be a shorter stroll at a more leisurely pace on a less hilly terrain, followed by a discussion and meditation. We will be leaving from the main parking lot at Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area.
